Jenny and I had a lovely couple of days in Bruges having travelled there on the Eurostar to Brussels. The weather was spectacular – the sky was really this blue! Hardly any Lightroom “enhancements” to these images.
These shots were taken very close to where we stayed in the Pand Hotel and it’s a very well-known (and photographed) spot in Bruges.

At night it’s lit up and without the excursion boats on the canals, you get the opportunity to take the most wonderful shots. Both of these taken without a tripod, but making use of a wall to steady the shot.

Beautiful! The belfry is exquisite in the day but at night it is breathtaking. Note to self: add Bruges to next jaunt to Europe.
Note to Kirsty: Jenny and I are already thinking about a return trip! Lovely place.
It makes Bruges a particularly interesting city if that was necessary. I love those pictures but the two last ones are stunning
I agree with you Marie-Christine, you don’t need anything else to make Bruges a lovely, and interesting, city. The lighting at night is special though and once the canal trips stop, and the water goes still, then you get these lovely reflections.
A magical city and your photos have caught the essence of it.
Hi Dave, the photos at night are spectacular! The golden light of the illuminated buildings and the stillness of the water add to the quality of the reflections…truly breath-taking! The daytime photos show the stunning architecture against the clear blue sky but I prefer the mystery of the night shots.
Following the comment I made about your Textures – 2 photo, David, I would like to say that I would be happy to have the last one here hanging on my wall.
