Dahlicious at Dyffryn

Dahlia

Jenny and I took the opportunity of a break in the dismal weather we’ve been experiencing just recently in Cardiff, to go out for the afternoon. We went to one of those places we often return to. It was three years ago that we last went to Dyffryn House and Gardens, and that was shortly after they’d taken over the management ands maintenance of the former Cory-owned house from the council. What a difference in those three years. The work done in the house is quite remarkable, and the work of the gardening volunteers matches it. We were able to go into the green house this time and saw hot house and tropical house plants, but the overwhelming image was of the dahlias – particularly the red Llandaf Cathedral plant which was superb. Hopefully it won’t be long before we go again.

There are a few more pictures on Google Photos and flickr. We then went off to the Fox and Hounds at Llancarfan, a gastropub now, but somewhere we hadn’t been to for very many years. A nice meal and a lovely day out.
