So the workshop came to its conclusion and I hadn’t seen a clapper bridge that I could actually walk over. I had however see one at Postbridge so I determined to visit it on my way to Fingle Bridge – a location I’d researched and found to be a possibility for autumn colour.
The clapper bridge didn’t really present much of a photo-opportunity, but the road bridge was splendid with the East Dart River in full flow. Here are shots of the clapper bridge taken from every possible angle and tonal variation!
So finally to Fingle Bridge which is close to Castle Drogo (a National Trust property and the last castle built in the UK – in the last century to be precise). Here are three shots which capture the River Teign Gorge and the autumn colours.
I particularly like this last one which uses the trails of bubbles as they approach the salmon leap wear to lead you into the weir and the tress beyond.
And that was it – apart from a 4hr journey back to Cardiff due to delays on the M5. These shots, and the other ones I took on the Dartmoor trip are on flickr if you want the EXIF data.
Hi David,
There are some lovely photographs with vibrant colours which enhance the environment and reinforce what a beautiful country we live in. When looking at your style of photography there is a distinct pattern which is attached to you. It is very pleasing and I am impressed. However the black and white pictures were less impressive. Sorry I could not give you a 100% marking.
Thanks Len, I guess I need to work harder on my B&W images. I fully accept they are perhaps not as interesting as the others and yet some do work. The one of the Transporter Bridge in Newport, and the ones I took when I was with you down at Sudbrook. I need to put more careful thought into how I process them.
