A lovely sunny day and I had to catch-up on my U3A “homework” – taking photographs which could have the category “shapes” attached to them. I was however distracted by the discovery that I could walk past the BBC Porth Teigr studios and alongside the Roath Basin – one of Cardiff’s largest former coal docks. So I’m going to show those images first after you’ve had a look at the picture of Cardiff Bay in the sunshine above.
Terrific reflections of the building and as you can see, absolutely no wind to disturb the surface of the water. A joy to be there!

At the end of the Basin where ships would have exited into what would have been the tidal Cardiff Bay, there are the remains of some of the lock gear. I like the reflected and inverted modern waterside dwellings “looking down” on the ancient industrial heritage.
Enjoyable sightseeing from my sofa, thank you for this lovely display! I particularly like the panoramic view of the Basin, and it would be interesting to see the same at twilight or night time, when colourful lights scintillate.
That’s a great idea. Now I know how to get there by car, I may drive down on a clear evening.
