I love Ludlow

I just love Ludlow. I first visited the place with the South Wales Geological Society when I was studying geology for my A’levels. Just behind where I took this picture at Ludford Corner is the classic location where the Ludlow Bone Bed marks the end of the Silurian and the beginning of the Devonian geological periods – or that’s what I was taught back then. But that’s not why I took this picture. It was this magnificent tree that caught my eye with it;’s amazing network of roots exposed and seemingly clinging to the wall of which it has become part.

The riverside walk along the Teme at Ludlow beneath the castle is a real joy. I won’t say any more other than these images were taken with my iPhone because I’d forgotten to change the battery in the A7r before I left the car. Duh!
