Patterns in Mud

Patterns in mud

The River Usk, alomng with the Wye and Severn, experiences a very high tidal range. This results in extensive tidal mud flats which, as in this case, can take on extraordinary patterns – created as the water drains off the flooded river banks, onto the flats and into the river as the tide goes out. Sort of like mountain ranges in miniature.
