The software in iOS 7 allows the iPhone to take panoramic pictures. You can overdo it a bit, of course, and you do get a lot of visual distortion, but that’s what I like about the picture above, plus it’s the only way I know of getting ALL the city Tyne Bridges into one shot.

What do you do with a reasonable composition opportunity but pretty awful light. Well … you apply Lightroom. In this case stopping down the exposure, increasing the contrast and then decreasing (massively) the Clarity. So, all the rather dreary sky just seems to fade away. I was having a drink in this bar and saw a picture like this one on the wall, so I thought I’d try and reproduce it. The trick was to use a half-pint glass, it looks like a pint – but it isn’t. 🙂
